Art that makes a change.
I’ve never been so proud to be a part of an exhibition. Being surrounded by masters of such beautiful mediums while being a representative of my own, all for the sake of providing for those half way across the world is such a beautiful feeling. Thank you so much to the curators, Aiko and Owen, for inviting me to such a warming and beautiful space! Cheers and congratulations to my peers that exhibited their beautiful work alongside me!
“Your Royalties at My Expense” was made specific to this exhibition, which was my first exhibition-focused studio project. The piece is the reworking of several recycled carpets and home decor with royal symbolism or “expensive motifs”. I also wanted to activate the viewer’s sense pf smell to interact with this piece…..so I burned it. Every rip, burn, blemish and tear was hand sewed and redesigned as you see it today.
